Happy 2006!

Hello and Happy (late) New Year!
Boy, we here in the Oliver camp are really bad about updating. My New Year's resolution is to update this page and our myspace page more frequently. I won't commit to time frames of updating because I would just be setting myself up for failure, but I promise to give the four or five of you that care more info more often, even if there's nothing to write about.
We really have kept ourselves pretty busy over the holidays. We took a little break from playing shows, but that dry spell will soon be over. We will be playing some gigs around the state in the coming weeks, check back for info on those. Portland, you will have to wait a little longer for an Oliver show, at this point it looks like the next one will be February 19. But it will be well worth the wait, trust us. More info on that will be coming shortly.
The biggest news that we should post here is yet another lineup change for Oliver. Prior to the holidays our bassist Mark Ewer decided to part ways with the band. There were no hard feelings, Mark is a great guy and we wish him the best. We were a little lost for awhile as to how to replace him, but the answer turned out to be no further away than the bedroom next to our practice space. Please welcome our new bassist, Eric Fischer! AKA E-Rock, Ace of Bass, Thomas "Bassman" Jefferson, or in all his full-name glory, Eric Michael Anthony Michael Hall Fischer. Eric has been a good friend of ours for a long time, and he is holding down the low end in a massive way. You're definitely going to have to come to a show, check him out, and buy him a drink. Just not beer, because he's a girl about it and "doesn't like beer." If you want to buy beer, please buy it for Ben and I, we still think it's delicious.
Other than that we are still writing and working on our new recordings. We still have no idea of release dates or anything for our new music, but I pray it is safe to say that we will have a new album out by the end of this year. Here's to hoping. One thing I can assure you of is we are all very excited about our new music and feel it is the best stuff we have ever written. True dat.
My other New Year's resolution is to get oliverband.com back to its former glory. As you may remember we lost the whole site awhile back. It is back up now but is a little lean on content at the moment. We are working on getting everything back up and running, please keep checking back and be patient. Soon we will have new music and new pictures featuring our new bassist on both our myspace page and this site.
If you still care about what we're doing than we owe you a huge thanks. Here's to a great 2006! ROCK!
