Album NotesComing Back In Waves is the collective title of a set of four EPs being released by Oliver throughout the first seven months of 2005. Each EP is being recorded at a different studio with a different engineer, giving them each their own distinctive sound and feel. All of the EPs are being mixed and mastered by Stephan Hawkes at Fire Hazard Recording in Hillsboro, OR.The bulk of Time Demands Pain was recorded by Simon Widdowson at his now-defunct Are You Listening? recording studio in SE Portland, OR. Unfortunately the studio went out of business while the band was still owed four more tracks, but it was a great experience and they still love Simon, who now divides his time between Europe and the US. To round out the EP an acoustic session was recorded with Stephan Hawkes and Blake McKibben at Fire Hazard Recording in Hillsboro, OR. Two songs, "At The Bar" and "Half Inch Hayden," stood out and are included on the EP. The band members love the stripped-down acoustic sound of these tracks and feel it gives a nice glimpse into how all of Oliver's songs are born. "Around The Sun" serves as the EP’s single and has already been added into regular rotation on 94/7 fm in Portland, OR, receiving loads of requests daily. |
